The specific objective of the LIFE project "Urgent measures for the Protection of Natura 2000 sites of the Alta Tuscia Viterbese" has been to encourage the restoration and enhancement of habitats, priority and not, characteristic of wetlands and steppe grasslands, compromised or degraded by direct or indirect human action.
These actions have pointed to the implementation of Community Directives "Birds" (Dir.79/409/CEE) and "Habitat" (Dir. 92/43) and, in particular, the European Natura 2000 network, as the set of areas in which there are habitats and species worthy of preservation.
The project has been regularly closed, and involving local populations that have actively participated in the planning of the work and activities of dissemination.
At the closing of the project, we can say that the LIFE04 NAT/IT/000153 has effectively sent the idea that the areas of common interest of NATURE 2000 NETWORK, no constraints to normal activities and economic interests, but are environments to be preserved and may be, with projects LIFE, an important opportunity for development.
